Cód¡Go!
Branding for a youth coding campaign
Cód¡Go! is a campaign organized by Leagues of Code and Fundació Princesa de Girona to raise awareness among Spanish youths about careers in tech and bridge the educational gap in coding. The campaign consisted of coding workshops followed by a coding tournament, and activities across five cities in Spain. My role as the lead designer was to craft the branding and design a microsite.

Challenge
Spanish youth, especially girls, are discouraged to learn code due to the negative stereotypes of programmers. On top of that, there is a lack of quality training available, making coding even less accessible. Leagues of Code hired me to create a branding that would attract youth and present coding in a positive light.
Código means code in Spanish, a straightforward name for the campaign. “Go” is emphasized for a boost of momentum to inspire and excite.
I wanted a modern typeface that speaks to the nowness of technology and innovation. The typeface should also be bold and geometric so that I can create graphic elements using the glyphs. We went with The Future by Klim Type Foundry.
We wanted to show coding in the positive light that it deserves. It's a skill that contributes to the success of a well rounded individual. Photography was the most direct way to showcase the personalities and vibrant lives of developers.
To counter the negative stereotype of programmers are "black hoodies" without a social life, I composed a bright color palette.
A kaleidoscope generate mesmerizing patterns using the principle of multiple reflections and a precise construction. Then with each shake, we see colorful results. Coding is similar: the logic behind the scenes result in wonderful creations. So what if we create kaleidoscopic patterns with code symbols?

Pattern grid construction
The code patterns are bright and attention grabbing. I also created background patterns with the construction grids for a layer of visual interest that is more subtle.
